Thank you Dr. Drake for helping us honor the 95th anniversary of the Women Chemists Committee at the American Chemical Society by briefing our members and guests how Kismet Technologies is harnessing the power of nanotechnology to revolutionize disinfection practices in hospitals, cruise ships, and potentially multiple other venues. Dr. Drake in 2019 founded Kismet Technologies to address the labor, costs and challenges health and public facilities face to reduce the risk of infection. Kismet Technologies produces a “Nano-Based Residual Active Disinfectant”, NanoRAD for short, which is a metal-mediated cesium oxide nano product conferring to surfaces the capability to kill bacteria and viruses for months. The compelling presentation received yesterday included recent research information to be published in the coming months. A selling point for NanoRAD is its safety profile and its low environmental impact. Dr. Drake was recognized in 2021 in Forbes Magazine “Next 1000” * and named in 2022 as one of the Orlando Startup to Watch.* kismet-technologies.com/news-and-updates/f/forbes-next-1000-list ... We will honor our 50th, 60th, and 70th year ACS members and celebrate the 95th anniversary of the Women Chemists Committee, tomorrow, Saturday June 25, 2022. Dr. Christina Drake, founder and owner of Kismet Technologies, will speak on how her company is harnessing the powers of nanotechnology for safe, non-stop virus and bacteria protection. UCF produced a video on YouTube about Kismet Technologies that participants to the luncheon may find useful viewing as a primer at www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUE3MJMgXdY ... See MoreSee Less

Congratulations to one of our own, Dr. Denisia Popolan-Vaida, for having been selected for an Early Career Award by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to investigate elusive chemical compounds to help mitigate the impact of combustion on climate change. Popolan-Vaida is one of 83 scientists from across the nation to receive this support. The $800,000 awarded for a period of five years as part of the DOE’s Basic Science program will support the development of an understanding of the complex Criegee intermediates formed by the reactions of ozone and hydrocarbons which could guide the design of more efficient low emission fuels and engine technologies. DOE provides early career awards to support America’s scientists and researchers early in their careers to ensure the U.S. remains at the forefront of scientific discovery and develops the solutions to our most pressing challenges as well as to provide the freedom for these recipients to establish themselves as expert in their fields.
